Dennis Schröder stuns at Paris Olympics

Dennis Schröder already made history when he was made the flag bearer. Schröder is the first black man from Germany to ever be the flagbearer. Showcasing his significance and contribution to the German National team. He shared this honor with Anna-Maria Wagner, the German Judoka.

Who is Dennis Schröder ?

Schröder is an NBA player for Brooklyn Nets. He is the owner of his hometown team Basketball Loewen Braunschweig of the Basketball Bundesliga. In 2023 he led the German team to the FIBA world cup, a first for Germany. Schröder has proved as an asset for whichever team he has played for. His performance has been compared to Tony Parker. His FIBA team came out undefeated, earning him the title of FIBA World Cup MVP.

Germany’s superstar proved his worth again in the men’s quarterfinal Basketball match. With a winning score of 76-63 on Tuesday ( August 6th) against Greece. Leading his team to the semi final the German point guarder made his team’s win possible. Providing two pivotal plays in the second half. Schöder masterfully played off Giannis Antetokounmpo blocking his third-quarter run.He ended the game with a 30-footer securing a win for his team.

Schröder added 13 to Franz Wagner’s 18, he admits, “I was struggling the whole game” and “The team carried me. Franz did a great job, everybody that came off the bench brought that energy because the 11 (a.m.) game is tough. The (30-footer) was good but I want to shout out all my teammates for just being ready and we finished it.” Schröder also said “It was a great play but today was not about the individual.” Congratulating each of his teammates on their victory.

This is a historic moment for Germany, having never finished higher than eighth in Olympic tournaments, to which a proud Schöder could be heard saying, “We made history already, we’re in the semis, but with this team it’s just great to compete”.
