Matt Kuchar, the professional golfer, known for his nine wins in the PGA tour had his fans on toes when he walked off the course on Sunday. Kuchar was in the final three in the Wyndham Championship. He chooses not to play the second shot on his 72nd hole. Kuchar was in a 10-way tie for 12th.

Kuchar was marking off his hole 212 yards away from the hole. This is when Dottie Pepper related a message, “ Matt Kuchar has said he won’t play anymore gold today” she says. A horn had not been blown for darkness. Orlando Pope, a rules official, informed it was past sunset and decided to inform Kuchar and other two players ( Max Greyserman and Chad Ramey) on the field.

The golfer was seen hurrying to tee off his 14th box after birdieing the 17th hole. His ball went well left to the fairway. As Aaron Rai, who eventually won the trophy, was preparing for his second shot. Now Kuchar will have to return on Monday to complete his tournament.

Just trying to set an Example

Kuchar was the only one who decided to end the game, when asked he responded he was trying to set an example for fellow golfer Max Greyserman. He said “ was trying to set an example for Max. We were so far past where we should’ve stopped playing. We saw what Max did on hole 16; they should’ve blown the horn there. I feel bad, the poor kid should’ve won this tournament. By me not playing, it may show Max he has an important shot to hit.”

Greyserman decided to go ahead with his hole and finish the tournament. He still came second despite his earlier quadruple bogey on the 14th hole. Kuchar’s decision to finish his play on Monday has lost him his chance at FedEx Cup Playoffs bringing an end to his 17 year streak.
